Hello to whomever is reading this – and thank you for your interest. I hope you’ll spend some time wandering around my pieces and being happy that you did.
When I was young I was in love with words. When I wasn’t reading, I was writing – letters, my diary, poems – but as I grew older, the reading stayed with me but I lost the habit of writing. Last year, I don’t know why, my old passion sidled up beside me, gave me a nudge and said, “Remember me?” And thus….my blog. It serves no purpose other than to indulge my joy in creating a piece of writing that I can be proud of and which makes people either laugh or think or nod their head in agreement or say, ” I know exactly what she means.” or “That’s what happened to me.” Our emotions are what we have most in common and sharing them is the most human thing we can do.
As to the nuts and bolts, I’m on the ‘wrong’ side of 50, with an American husband who had the good sense to become an Australian; a 14 year old son who still speaks to us and a 2 year old Labradoodle who is the real boss of the family. As a society, a lot of what we see and hear is so youth-oriented but there are millions of us, the middle-aged, who are completely happy in our skins and our lives and I hope my blog will be a reflection of the joy, the boredom, the every day, the extraordinary — this gift that is life.
Thank you for visiting.
